Lymphedema Therapy
Lymphedema Therapy for Seniors Lafayette, Indiana
Living with chronic, progressive swelling is especially challenging for older adults. Lymphedema causes discomfort and limits movement, making it difficult to perform daily tasks and negatively impacting quality of life. Over time, stiffness and reduced mobility can increase the risk of falls, while persistent swelling can cause skin to stretch and crack.
Mulberry Health’s lymphedema therapy program helps manage the symptoms of lymphedema caused by surgery, cancer treatment, injury, or circulatory conditions. Our Mulberry facility serves seniors from the Lafayette area who need supportive, personalized care close to home.
The goal of our program is to reduce swelling and provide relief so that patients can move more comfortably and maintain their independence.

“I’m an LPN at IU Frankfort, and I’m excited to get back to my normal job. I’m getting better with therapy at Mulberry Health so much faster than I would at home.”
What Lymphedema Treatment for Seniors Is Like at Mulberry Health
Our therapy team provides care tailored to the needs of older adults living with lymphedema. First, we perform a thorough patient evaluation to assess swelling patterns, skin health, and functional limitations. From there, we build a personalized plan to control symptoms and help prevent complications.
Depending on the patient’s condition and recovery goals, treatment may include lymphatic drainage therapy performed by trained professionals.
Sessions take place in calm, well-equipped therapy spaces. The goal is to help patients maintain mobility, support skin health, and manage symptoms in a way that fits their daily routines.
Mulberry Health offers:
- Individualized lymphedema management plans for seniors
- Licensed therapists experienced in chronic swelling care
- Comfortable therapy environments designed for older adults
- Coordination with nursing and rehabilitation services
- Convenient access for families in Lafayette
SHORT-TERM REHAB
Lymphedema therapy is often part of short-term rehab after surgery or hospitalization. We provide seniors with focused care to reduce swelling and improve their range of motion before they return home. We may adjust therapy frequency and techniques to support safe, sustainable recovery.
LONG-TERM CARE
For residents who require ongoing support, long-term care services include access to lymphedema management as part of a broader care plan. Our team monitors changes in swelling and skin condition while providing nursing care, physical therapy, and daily assistance in a comfortable, supervised setting.
Outpatient Therapy
Mulberry Health offers lymphedema therapy on an outpatient basis. Seniors living at home can attend scheduled therapy sessions while continuing to attend to their daily responsibilities independently. This option provides older adults with regular access to care and symptom control provided by trained therapists and care professionals.
Independent Living
Swelling management for seniors is also available to independent living residents at the Cottages of Mulberry. We coordinate therapy sessions on-site, helping residents find relief from lymphedema symptoms while maintaining their routines and independence.
